Citizens Police Academy
The Hanahan's first Citizens Police Academy begins in March 12, 2009.
The Academy was created to provide our residents and business people with an opportunity to meet and take a look at local law enforcement. Our hope is that participants will obtain a sense of how we serve them and the community, and how the citizen might help us serve more effectively.Â
The Hanahan Police Department offers a Spring session. Classes meet on Thursady evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm for a total of 10 weeks.
While attending the Academy will not certify you to be a police officer, you will gain a better understanding of police work and have a lot of fun along the way.
Academy classes are taught by veteran police officers. Some of the topics covered are: Driving Under the Influence (Law & exercise), Crime Scene Investigation, Crime Prevention, Criminal Domestic Violence, Gun safety, Police K-9, and more.
Applications for our CPA are available at the Police Department located at 1255 Yeamans Hall Road. You can also download your application (in Adobe PDF format) HERE. Be sure to read the Selection Procedure & Requirements prior to picking up your application.
