Q:   How can I find out who is investigated my case?
A:   You may contact the Operations Lieutenant at 843-554-4221 ext. 108 and learn the name of the investigating officer.

Q:   Do you have a warrant for my arrest?
A:   Interested individuals should come to the Hanahan Police Department. They will be directed to the Detective Division for further information.

Q:   What can you tell me about my case?
A:   Victims may call the investigator assigned to their case during regular hours. Investigators will talk to victims about their case. However, Hanahan Police Detectives will not make available any information that could hurt the successful investigation of a case.

Q:   How do I bring criminal charges against someone?
A:   To bring criminal action against someone, you would take a copy of your incident report to the Municipal Judge. The Municipal Judge will make the decision as to whether or not to issue a warrant. Once the warrant is signed it will be sent to the Police Department for service.

Q:   How much does it cost to file criminal charges?
A:   There is no cost for a criminal warrant.

Q:   How do I drop a warrant which I have signed?
A:   Contact the Berkeley County Solicitor's Office at 843.723-3800 ext. 4529.

Q:   What happens after I sign a criminal warrant ?
A:   The Municipal Clerk of Court will forward it to the Police Department for service. Once the warrant is served, you will be contacted pertaining to the bond hearing.

Q:   I think there is illegal activity going on in my neighborhood, what do I do?
A:   Contact Crime Stoppers or call the Hanahan Police Communications Unit at 843-747-5711

Q:   How can I check to see if a Registered Sex Offender resides in my community?
A:   The general public can access the State Law Enforcement Division's web site for South Carolina Sex Offenders. Several search fields are available. Offenders are required to re-register on an annual basis during their entire lifetime.
