Q:   Can I have a report faxed to me?
A:   Copies of all reports must be requested in writing or obtained in person.

Q:   Can I get a copy of my criminal record?
A:   We only provide criminal records to law enforcement, security officers, and federally funded housing representatives, with a signed release form. You can obtain your own criminal record by picking up a form at our records office, and sending it to SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division). You will need send in $25.00 with the form.

Q:   How can I get a copy of a police report or traffic accident report?
A:   Go to the Records Department at Police Headquarters.

Q:   How can I get fingerprinted for a job?
A:   To obtain adult fingerprinting for purposes other than criminal or immigration, come to Police Headquarters and an on-duty officer will assist you. There is a small fee.

Q:   What is the process for obtaining a permit to carry a concealed weapon?
A:   Concealed weapon permits are issued through the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. For additional information on this process, contact the Sheriff’s Department at 843.723.3800.
